The lifeguard said that the water temperature is 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Two weeks ago, it topped out at 60 degrees, and they had to do an ocean rescue - the first and last one so far this summer - when a child got too far out in the surf. Too cold for much trouble, too foggy to see if it happens, anyway. 5 mm wet suit recommended. The lifeguard offered to let me "pose" with his surfboard. "It's yellow!" he said, and then he offered to let me try on his sweat shirt (red). I did not say, "hey, I have wet suits older than you, buddy," but it's, sadly, true!
